BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (June 19, 2018) — Ector Peredia, 53, assistant principal of McKee Middle School, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal sex acts with a teenage student from a different school, according to Bakersfield Now.
Peredia was arrested early Monday morning after police arrived at this Via Bassano Drive home at the Rio Bravo Country Club and presented an arrest warrant for him.
Peredia initially refused to come outside and a 4-hour standoff ensued. The SWAT team was called and residents in the area were evacuated from their homes. By 9:30 a.m., after a “minor use of force,” Peredia was arrested. Detectives were tipped off on Sunday about the alleged sex crime between Peredia and a minor teenager.
The Greenfield Union School District hired Peredia in 2000 as a classroom teacher, but 12 years ago he moved up to work in the administration field.
Peredia is being held in lieu of $70,000 bail.
