McKenzie Gilbert, 23, Victim in Fatal Pedestrian Accident

DATE OF COLLISION: Friday, July 20th
July 24, 2018- According to KSBW News, the woman killed following a pedestrian versus auto collision over the weekend has been identified as McKenzie Gilbert, 23.
Santa Cruz sheriff officials reported that Gilbert had been walking along Modesto Avenue before being struck from behind by the driver of a black Infinity SUV at precisely 3:23 p.m.
The vicious blow from behind tragically left Gilbert with fatal injuries as she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV was identified as Kelsey Knoll, 24, and was subsequently arrested as video footage showed Knoll veering across traffic lanes before possibly hitting Gilbert intentionally.
Authorities working the case have not pieced together whether or not the two women knew each other and whether or not there was any motive behind the incident.
According to KSBW News, Knoll remains jailed on $2.5 million bail on attempted murder charges.
