MEAD VALLEY, California (December 12, 2016) — Daniel Lahti, 33, of Hemet, died Sunday night in a pedestrian accident in the 18000 block of Clark Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
The fatal crash took place about 9:15 p.m. yesterday. The Hemet man was struck by the driver and died at the scene of the crash.
Police are investigating the crash to determine liability.
Under California law, pedestrians typically have the right-of-way in our roadways and it’s incumbent upon motorists to be alert at all times and yield to them. When a negligent driver is distracted, speeds or is intoxicated, they may not be able to react quickly enough to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
“There are always two sides of a story and police will look at the facts to determine if charges should be filed and who is liable for a family’s loss,” said Attorney James Johnson.
Those of us at Johnson Attorneys Group offer our sincere condolences to the family of the person who died in this collision.
