2 Seriously Injured in Mecca Crash on Highway 86 Near Avenue 62
MECCA, CA (May 21, 2022) – Two were seriously injured after a head-on crash on Highway 86 near Avenue 62 in Mecca.
According to the KESQ News and My News LA, the accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 6 a.m.
The Riverside County Fire Department said two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Mecca. The cars crashed on Highway 86, just south of Avenue 62.
2 Cars Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then freed two trapped people from the wreckage. Both sustained major injuries as a result of the collision.
An air ambulance took one patient while a ground ambulance rushed the other to the hospital for treatment. The reports did not disclose their names and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, officers forced a stretch of Highway 86 to shut down near Avenue 62 following the wreck. The cause of the Mecca crash is still under investigation.
