MECCA, California (Saturday, January 23, 2016) – A major injury occurred in a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Grapefruit Boulevard and 4th Street. The victim was cut free and extricated from his damaged vehicle, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. He was then flown by air-ambulance to an area hospital.
The incident took place this evening at about 4:27 p.m., according to an incident report by the California Highway Patrol, Indio. A portion of Highway 111 was closed down during the incident. No further information is available at this time.
