2 Hurt in Mecca Truck Accident on 10 Freeway
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (July 19, 2018) — Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a collision between a van and a big rig truck on the Interstate 10 Freeway, just east of the Cactus City Rest Area, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
CAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters responded to the location where they found two people trapped in a vehicle. One of the people suffered major injuries and the other minor injuries. The more seriously injured person was airlifted to a hospital by the CHP’s H60 helicopter.
The truck driver was not injured in the collision.

At this time, we do not know what caused this collision. There are certainly many unanswered questions about what led to the vehicles colliding. It’s unknown whether or not drugs and or alcohol were factors or mechanical problems with either vehicle.
