December 14, 2018- According to KRCRTV, a major injury collision involving a total of five vehicles took place yesterday morning on southbound Highway 99 just south of Tecate Road.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to the crash site which transpired at 7:48 a.m. after the driver of a 2013 International 3 axle caused the accident.
According to officials, the driver of the big rig identified as Darren Kelly, 25, had been headed southbound in the No. 1 lane before failing to see Megan Pitts, 33, the driver of a Nissan Altima in the No. 2 lane.

Pitts’s Nissan then ricocheted back into southbound traffic and hit by a Honda Accord driven by Patricia White, 54, of Corning, and then hit once again by a Hyundai Sonata driven by Vere Heard, 53.

Car Accident Injury Lawyer
Based on this news report, it appears as though the driver of the big rig, Darren Kelly, will be held responsible for causing the collision after veering into the traffic lane occupied by Megan Pitts and her Nissan Altima triggering a series of collision afterward. Authorities will look into other factors, however, such as whether or not the driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Did excessive speed or distracted driving play a role? Was the driver of the big rig negligent in any other way? We trust officials are looking into these and other factors in order to determine precisely what occurred here to help figure out liability.
In such cases where negligence or wrongdoing may have been a factor, all injured parties involved in this collision will be entitled to personal injury lawsuit against the big rig driver, Darren Kelly. Injured accident victims may seek compensation for damages including medical expenses and hospital bills and pain and suffering.
