SANTA ROSA, California (June 24, 2016) – According to The Press Democrat, Melissa Jackson was killed and her husband Tony Jackson was injured after their motorcycle collided with a car on Highway 101 Tuesday.
The crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 near Mendocino Avenue.
As per the article, California Highway Patrol said the motorcycle riders were splitting lanes when at the same time a red Toyota pickup truck was changing lanes.
The pickup driver, 25-year-old Healdsburg resident Ross Quacchia, attempted but failed to get back into the lane, causing the truck to be rear-ended by the motorcyclists.
The force of the crash threw the couple from their motorcycle. Both 22-year-old Middletown residents were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where Melissa Jackson later died.
CHP added that Tony Jackson suffered abrasions and a broken ankle following the accident.
