Melissa Newton, 41, Eureka Crash at Highway 255 and 3rd Street
EUREKA (October 2, 2018) – A woman was hospitalized after a traffic collision in the area of Highway 255 and 3rd Street on Monday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol dispatch team.
The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Melissa Newton.
CHP first logged the incident when two vehicles collided for an unknown reason in the westbound lanes of the road. The wreck occurred at about 5:18 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 255 and 3rd Street. Highway 255 is also known as R Street.

Paramedics responded to the scene and attended to one person, identified as Newton, who suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Newton was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. It was not specified in the report whether she was a driver or a passenger in one of the cars involved.
Meanwhile, one vehicle appeared to have a broken radiator following the accident. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the collision.
