Oakland Man Killed in San Leandro Boulevard Head-on Crash
SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (Aug. 1, 2018) — Melvin Calloway Sr., 65, of Oakland, died Monday night in a head-on crash in the 1000 block of San Leandro Boulevard, just north of Davis Street, according to the East Bay Times.
The collision was reported about 10:55 p.m. between two vehicles. Paramedics responded and rushed both drivers to hospital, but sadly Mr. Calloway died of his injuries hours later. The other driver suffered non-life threatening injuries in the collision.
Police are piecing together evidence collected at the scene in an effort to determine what led to this collision and liability. At this time all we know is the drivers were traveling in opposite directions on San Leandro Boulevard.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, we do not know who had the right-of-way in the roadway. In these types of collisions, one driver typically veers into the path of the other motorist. The cause of this crash remains under investigation.
We offer our prayers to the family of Mr. Calloway as they cope with this tragedy.
