Driver Killed in Traffic Collision on I-5 Freeway Near California Avenue Saturday
Mendota, CA (June 21, 2021) – A fatal car crash occurred on Interstate 5 Freeway on June 19, Saturday, the Merced Sun-Star News reported.
UPDATE: Man killed in Mendota crash identified
Officials said a 60-year-old man was driving a 2002 Ford vehicle heading south on the freeway in Mendota. Preliminary investigation revealed the horrible crash when the Ford approached the area near California Avenue. The driver reportedly steered to the left in an attempt to avoid a vehicle stopped ahead.
The sudden movement caused the Ford to careen off the roadway. According to the article published online, the vehicle driven by the 60-year-old man ended up rolling down a dirt embankment.
Fatal Car Crash in Mendota, June 19
Shortly after 8 a.m., emergency crews arrived at the crash site and found the driver trapped in the upside down car. Paramedics later sadly pronounced the motorist dead. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the name of the fatal victim remained undisclosed.
Meanwhile, no immediate information was available on the occupants of the other automobile involved in the unfortunate event. Further investigation on the deadly car crash in Mendota is ongoing.
