MENIFEE, CA (May 18, 2023) – A crash killed at least one person on the Interstate 215 Freeway near Scott Road in Menifee.

According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident took place on Thursday night. Officers reported the wreck on May 18 at around 9:51 p.m.

The incident happened when multiple vehicles collided for an unknown reason in Menifee. They crashed on the northbound Interstate 215 Freeway near Scott Road.

Multiple Vehicles Collide

CHP described a vehicle involved as a big rig. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and then freed at least one trapped occupant from the wreckage.

Medical personnel soon confirmed that one individual died as a result of the collision. The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, officers forced the northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway to shut down for hours near Scott following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Menifee crash is still under investigation.
