Menifee Teen Riding E-Motorcycle Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Briggs Road
Boy, 15, Struck and Killed Riding E-Bike or Off-Road Electric Motorcycle
MENIFEE, Calif. (August 13, 2026) — A 15-year-old Menifee boy was killed Wednesday night after he was struck while riding an off-highway electric motocross-style motorcycle or e-bike on Briggs Road in Menifee, police said.
UPDATE: The victim was identified as Koa Myric Quintanilla, 15, and there is a GoFundMe page to support his family and funeral costs. Students and supporters from Liberty High School gathered Thursday night to remember the teen who played on the football team at the school last year.
The crash was reported at about 8:19 p.m. Aug. 12 on Briggs Road just north of Garbani Road, where officers found the teenager lying in the roadway with severe injuries.
American Medical Response and CAL Fire crews responded, but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Police said witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle traveling south on Briggs Road toward Garbani Road with what appeared to be a bicycle caught beneath its front end. The bicycle eventually became dislodged, but the vehicle continued driving without stopping at the scene.
Investigators later determined the victim had been riding an off-highway electric motocross-style motorcycle, commonly referred to as an eMoto.
UPDATE 8/18: Menifee Police Located Suspect’s Vehicle
The driver involved in the collision had not been located as of Thursday. However, on August 18th, investigators announced they located the suspect vehicle and seized a white 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan. The vehicle may have sustained damage to its front bumper and passenger-side headlight.
The Menifee Police Traffic Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances of the crash. Police have not released additional details about how the collision occurred.
