Mentone Pedestrian Accident Wabash Avenue and Lugonia Avenue

Pedestrian Injured in Mentone Crash at Wabash and Lugonia Avenues

MENTONE, CA (July 1, 2021) – A crash left a pedestrian injured at Wabash Avenue and Lugonia Avenue in Mentone.

The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident took place on Thursday evening. Officers reported the incident at about 7:47 p.m.

The incident happened when a vehicle was going west on Lugonia Avenue, approaching  the intersection with Wabash Avenue, in Mentone. Lugonia Avenue is also known as Highway 38.

Victim Hit by Vehicle

CHP said for an unknown reason, the driver struck a male pedestrian in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.

Medical personnel then found the victim bleeding from his head and sitting on a curb as a result of the crash. They treated him for the unspecified injuries he sustained in the incident.

Officials did not release the name of the wounded patient and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Wabash and Lugonia to shut down following the accident.

Officers did not mention if the motorist involved stopped after hitting the person. The cause of the Mentone pedestrian collision is still under investigation.
