Driver and Passenger Killed in Collision on Highway 152 Sunday
Merced, CA (October 10, 2021) – Two people died following a traffic accident that occurred on Highway 152 Sunday, the Merced Sun-Star News reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed the catastrophic incident involved a big rig and a sedan. Officials said the 1999 Honda Accord was heading south on Volta Road. When the driver approached the transition road onto the highway, he apparently entered the eastbound lane without yielding to oncoming traffic.
The article published online mentioned the Honda slammed into the trailer of the eastbound 2008 Volvo big rig.
Double Fatal Car Accident in Merced, October 10
Shortly after 6:05 a.m., emergency teams arrived at the location. Responding paramedics found the driver and passenger unconscious in the disabled sedan. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but they sadly succumbed to their injuries and died. The names of the fatal victims remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, authorities mentioned the operator of the truck appeared unharmed after the collision.
