3 Seriously Injured in Merced Crash Near Parsons and Gerard Avenues
MERCED, CA (September 30, 2022) – Several were seriously injured after a DUI crash near Parsons and Gerard avenues in Merced.
According to the FOX 26 News and Your Central Valley, the accident took place on Friday morning. Officers reported the wreck at around 10 a.m.
The incident happened when a Chevy truck was going south on Parsons Avenue near Gerard Avenue in Merced. Police said the Chevy then drifted into oncoming traffic.
In the process, the car slammed head-on into a Dodge Charger near the intersection.
DUI Driver Hits Another Car
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found the 41-year-old driver of the Dodge and two juvenile passengers hurt. All three patients sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision.
Paramedics rushed them to a hospital for treatment. Medical personnel took the woman driving the Chevy with unknown injuries.
Police determined that she was under the influence of fentanyl when she hit the other car. They soon arrested the suspect for DUI.
Meanwhile, officers forced the area of Parsons and Gerard avenues to shut down following the wreck. The Merced crash is still under investigation.
