Motorcyclist, 58, Killed in Merced Crash at M Street and 25th Street
MERCED, CA (August 23, 2022) – A motorcyclist was killed after a crash at M Street and 25th Street in Merced.
According to The Merced Sun Star and Your Central Valley, the tragic accident took place on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck on August 22 shortly before 4:30 p.m.
The incident happened when a 58-year-old Merced man was riding the motorcycle north on M Street, approaching West 25th Street, in Merced.
At the same time, a Nissan utility van was going east on 25th Street. Police said for an unknown reason, the van pulled into the intersection in front of the motorcyclist.
Motorcycle and Van Collide
The motorcyclist laid the motorcycle down and then collided with the Nissan. Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim lying on the ground.
He sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed the patient to the Mercy Medical Center in Merced, where he soon died.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, police added that the driver of the van stopped and stayed at the site following the wreck.
Officers forced the area of M Street and 25th Street to shut down for a time after the incident. The cause of the fatal Merced crash is still under investigation.
