1 Seriously Injured in Merced Hit-and-Run Crash at Highway 59 and Canton Road
MERCED, CA (September 9, 2021) – At least one was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash at Highway 59 and Canton Road in Merced.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident took place on Thursday morning. According to their dispatch, officers reported the wreck at about 4:25 a.m.
A 2007 black Honda Civic and at least one other vehicle collided for an unknown reason in Merced. The two crashed on Highway 59 at the intersection with Canton Road.
2 Vehicles Collide
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene near a farm. They found one person left suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded victim and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that one of the drivers involved did not stop to render aid and fled the area. Officers forced the intersection of Highway 59 and Canton Road to shut down following the wreck.
The cause of the Merced hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
