Road Worker Injured in Hit-and-run Crash on Highway 99
MERCED, Calif. (June 11, 2021) — A Merced hit-and-run crash on Highway 99 Thursday left a road worker with major injuries.
The driver struck the victim and fled the scene without stopping to help the injured person, according to the Merced Police Department.
Authorities are searching for the suspect who will face felony hit and run charges.
The collision happened about 2:45 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th near the Highway 99 overpass at Martin Luther King Dr.
Paramedics responded and rushed the victim to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, according to Fox 26 News.
The suspect’s car is likely a 4-door, silver Volkswagen Jetta and a sunroof. Additionally, police expect the vehicle will have damage to the front-end driver side and it lost its driver side rear-view mirror.
