Merced Firefighter Injured in Accident on McKee Road Near East Santa Fe Avenue
MERCED (February 9, 2018) – An on-duty Merced County firefighter suffered minor injuries in a rollover collision on McKee Road near East Santa Fe Avenue Friday morning.
According to Merced Sun-Star, the firefighter was driving the engine southbound on McKee Road around 8 a.m. At the same time, a compact car pulled onto the side of the roadway as drivers typically do for fire trucks with lights and sirens turned on.
For unknown reasons, the car reportedly swerved in front of the engine. The firefighter then veered left to avoid collision and caused the engine to overturn.
First responders immediately rendered aid to the firefighter who suffered lacerations to his head. As per the article, the victim was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Meanwhile, primary reports indicated that the driver of the involved compact car did not stop and left the scene following the incident. No immediate information was released on the suspected hit-and-run motorist.
Officials continue to work at this time to determine the identity and whereabouts of the hit-and-run motorist.
Further investigation is underway.
Personal Injury Lawyer
Most traffic accidents which involve a driver who flees the scene can be subjected to serious criminal charges, especially when a particular crash results in bodily injuries to another person. Such circumstances are considered as “felony hit-and-run.”
In this specific accident, the injured firefighter may have the legal right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the suspect, depending on the results of the investigation. We hope the hit-and-run motorist will be located soon, and justice will then be served.
