Pedestrian Badly Injured in Merced Crash at Olive Avenue and M Street
MERCED, CA (April 26, 2022) – A pedestrian was badly injured after a crash at Olive Avenue and M Street in Merced.
According to the Merced GW News and ABC 30 News, the accident took place on Tuesday night. Officers reported the collision shortly before 9 p.m.
Police said a vehicle struck a male pedestrian for an unknown reason in a Merced crosswalk. The incident began when a car going east on Olive Avenue made a right turn on M Street.
Man Hit by Car
In the process, the driver hit the man in his 70s in the intersection. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found the victim who sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then took him to a hospital for treatment.
The report did not disclose the name of the wounded party and his condition at this time. Meanwhile, police added that the motorist stopped and stayed at the site after hitting the man.
Officers forced the area of Olive Avenue and M Street to shut down following the incident. The cause of the Merced pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
