Merced Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash 16th Street and O Street

Man, 75, Seriously Injured in Merced Hit-and-Run Near 16th Street and O Street

MERCED, CA (April 8, 2021) – An elderly pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash near 16th Street and O Street in Merced.

According to The Merced Sun Star and Merced GW News, the accident occurred early Monday morning. Officers reported the collision at about 3:30 a.m.

The incident happened on April 5 when a vehicle struck 75-year-old man using a walker at the time. The driver hit him for an unknown reason near the intersection of 16th and O streets.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene near the Auto Resources car lot. They found the victim in the gutter on the north side of the 16th Street near O Street.

Driver Hits Elderly Pedestrian, Flees Scene

Police said he suffered major injuries as a result of the collision. Medical personnel then rushed him to a Modesto area hospital and listed him in stable condition.

Officials did not release the name of the elderly patient. Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and soon fled the area.

They described the car involved as a 2002 to 2006 Ford Mustang. Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
