4 Injured in Collision on Highway 17 in Los Gatos
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. (May 31, 2024) — Four people were injured Friday morning in multi-vehicle crash involving a Santa Cruz Metro Bus on Highway 17 near Los Gatos.
“A Metro bus lost control and hit multiple vehicles,” the CHP report said.
The traffic accident occurred on northbound State Route 17 near The Cats saloon at around 7:15 a.m. on May 31st, just south of San Jose, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The report stated the Metro bus came upon standstill traffic on the northbound Santa Cruz Highway and was unable to stop. The bus reportedly rear-ended several other motorists setting off a chain-reaction collision with at least seven vehicles. The other vehicles involved included a gold SUV, a white van, a brown Jeep, and a white work truck.
The bus was traveling from Santa Cruz to the Diridon/Downtown San Jose stop.
Paramedics responded and transported four people including the bus driver to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries, the CHP report said. A pregnant woman riding in a gold SUV was among those possibly injured in the crash.
Meanwhile, tow trucks removed several vehicles from the roadway. Meanwhile, bus passengers were moved onto another bus to complete their journey.
Finally, investigators continue to work on the case.
