Micaela Segura Morales Killed in Pedestrian Accident Chestnut Avenue in Fresno
Woman, 98, Identified as Pedestrian Killed in January Crash
FRESNO, Calif. (Feb. 10, 2025) –Micaela Segura Morales, 98, of Fresno, died and an 82-year-old man was critically injured after being hit by a driver on January 22nd at Chestnut and Hamilton Avenues in Fresno.
Additionally, the alleged DUI driver, Marcelo Gaytan, 56, was arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail under suspicion of DUI causing injury/death.
Also, other charges made were DUI over .08% causing injury/death, great bodily injury in the commission of a felony, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Fatal Crash at Fresno Intersection
The Fresno Police Department responded to the crash scene around 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 22nd and located two elderly pedestrians with injuries.
Marcelo Gayta was driving northbound on Chestnut Avenue when he reportedly struck the man and woman who were crossing the intersection.
Meanwhile, paramedics took both pedestrians to a local hospital in critical condition. Micaela Segura Morales later died and the man was treated for injuries to his head, ribs, and lungs.
Finally, the investigation into the case is ongoing.
