Michael Alvarez, 36, Seriously Injures Pedestrian in Chico DUI Hit-and-Run Crash
CHICO, CA (October 12, 2021) – Authorities detained Michael Alvarez after a DUI hit-and-run crash on Cohasset Road in Chico.
Police determined that the 36-year-old Chico man was under the influence of alcohol when he seriously injured a pedestrian on Monday night.
The incident began when Michael Alvarez struck the pedestrian on Cohasset Road in Chico. Police said he hit the person just south of Lupin Avenue.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived at the scene and found the victim down on the shoulder of the road as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel rushed the patient to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The Action News Now and KRCRTV wrote that the accident took place on October 11 at about 11:30 p.m.

Medical personnel then took the patient to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The report did not release the name of the wounded party and their condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that Michael Alvarez did not stop to help the victim and then fled the area. They soon located the damaged car in the 900 block of Lupin Avenue.
Officers contacted him and he claimed that he was a passenger at the time and he did not know the driver and the location of the vehicle.
Police arrested Michael Alvarez on suspicion of DUI and felony hit-and-run. They booked him into the Butte County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail.
The Chico DUI hit-and-run crash is still under investigation.
