2 Killed in Oakland Car Accident on I-80 Freeway, University Ave
OAKLAND, California (September 13, 2021) – Michael Bernardo, 46, of Hercules, and Keandre Allums, 28, of San Pablo, were both killed in a Sunday morning pedestrian accident in Oakland.
Two collisions happened one after the other about 1:36 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 12th on the Interstate 80 Freeway, just west of University Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The initial crash involved the drivers of a Chevrolet Malibu and a Dodge Durango. The two vehicles collided and three people subsequently exited their vehicles, including a female passenger. The two drivers begun to argue about the collision.
That’s when an oncoming Mini Cooper struck both drivers. The 50-year-old San Francisco man driving the Mini Cooper stopped after the pedestrian accident.
Unfortunately, both Keandre Allums and Michael Bernardo died at the scene.
Meanwhile, debris struck the female passenger and she suffered minor injuries. Paramedics transported her by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Additionally, police will determine liability for the deadly crash. Furthermore, witnesses or anyone with information about the fatal Oakland crash may contact the Oakland CHP Office at (510) 457-2875.
