Michael Burks, 51, Killed in Turlock Pedestrian Crash on Golden State Boulevard
TURLOCK, CA (August 19, 2022) – Michael Burks was killed after a pedestrian crash on Golden State Boulevard north of Turlock.
The coroner’s office identified the 51-year-old Modesto man as the victim of the fatal collision which took place on Friday.
The incident happened when Michael Burks was walking in the middle of the southbound lane of Golden State Boulevard in Turlock. At the same time, a Ford was going south at about 40 to 45 mph.
Man Hit by Car
The California Highway Patrol said the female driver of the Ford failed to see the pedestrian crossing the street. In the process, she struck him south of Barnhart Road.
The Modesto Bee wrote that the accident occurred shortly after midnight. Michael Burks sustained serious injuries as a result of the pedestrian incident.
Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he soon died. Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the 22-year-old Turlock woman driving the Ford ended up hurt following the collision.
The area had limited lighting at the time of the incident. The Turlock pedestrian crash is still under investigation.
