Bicyclist Michael Cesspooch, 53, Hit and Killed by Car in Oroville
OROVILLE (September 14, 2017) – A bicyclist was killed after an alleged hit-and-run crash on Feather River Boulevard Tuesday night, according to Chico Enterprise-Record.
Butte County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 53-year-old Michael Cesspooch, of Marysville. He died at the scene.
As per the article, police said Cesspooch was riding his bicycle south on Feather River Boulevard when he was struck by a white Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling in the same direction. The collision occurred at about 8:30 p.m.
The bike became stuck under the vehicle and was dragged a short distance before the driver pulled to the side of the road and try to allegedly hide the bicycle.
Anthony Abuanbar, 37, Arrested
A police officer saw the pickup pulled off the roadway and a man lying in the roadway on the right shoulder of Feather River. The officer attempted to stop the car, but the driver failed to yield.
The suspect, 37-year-old Anthony Abuanbar, led the police on a chase on southbound Highway 70. The high-speed pursuit ended in the area of Pacific Heights and Hilgers roads and Abuanbar was arrested.
The Oroville man is facing charges of involuntary vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence, evading a peace officer, hit and run causing great bodily injury and hit and run causing property damage. He was booked into Butte County Jail in Oroville with bail set at $270,000.
