Driver, Michael Chandler, Injured After Rollover Car Crash on I-5 Freeway Thursday
Yreka, CA (January 15, 2021) – Three people suffered serious injuries following a traffic collision on Interstate 5 Thursday night, the Mt. Shasta News reported.
Preliminary investigation revealed 38-year-old Michael Chandler was behind the wheel of a white Kia Rio heading north on I-5. For reasons still unclear, Chandler lost control of the car.
The vehicle careened away from the roadway and and smashed into the center median. The force from the impact caused the car to roll over multiple time on I-5, just south of Louie Road.
2 Passengers Badly Hurt in Yreka Car Accident, January 14
Officials said a passenger in the back seat appeared unrestrained. As a result, the passenger ended up ejected onto the freeway.
According to the news article published online, the overthrown passenger and a second passenger both suffered major injuries in the wreck. The names of the victims remained undisclosed pending confirmation.
Meanwhile, Chandler also reportedly sustained injuries.
The exact cause of the rollover car accident in Yreka have not been revealed thus far. The California Highway Patrol is the agency handling the investigation.
