Man Killed in Crash on Encinitas Boulevard
ENCINITAS, Calif. (Nov. 8, 2021) — Michael Dougherty, 62, of Escondido, died Thursday in a car accident when his vehicle was struck by a motorist on Encinitas Boulevard.
The car accident happened about 7:15 p.m. on Nov. 4th in Encinitas, according to the San Diego Medical Examiner.
The Escondido man just delivered groceries prior to the deadly crash. He drove out of an apartment complex and exited onto Encinitas Boulevard. An oncoming pickup truck struck the man’s 2007 Toyota Corrolla in the southbound lanes. The pickup struck driver’s side door of Michael Dougherty’s vehicle. The two vehicles wound up against the east side of the curb.
Someone called 911 for help, but arriving police and paramedics pronounced Michael Dougherty dead at 7:25 p.m.
Liability for the collision remains under investigation by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department.
