Lake Elsinore Man Killed in Crash on Grand Avenue
LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA — Michael Edwards, 42, of Lake Elsinore, was killed and a second driver suffered major injuries in a traffic accident Thursday night at Grand Avenue, near Vail Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
The crash was reported just before 5 p.m. between two vehicles. Edwards was driving a Ford Focus here in the Lakeland Village area. Edwards was driving a 2009 Ford Focus southbound on Grand Avenue when he suddenly drifted into opposing traffic lanes and crashed head-on into a man driving a 2003 Chevy Suburban.
Sadly, Edwards died at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, the other driver survived with major injuries. He was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center.
The collision resulted in a temporary closure of this major thoroughfare in town as the California Highway Patrol’s Temecula officers headed up the investigation into the incident.
Lakeland Village Crash Investigation
Police are reviewing the evidence and any witness statements to determine fault. It’s unknown at this time what factors led to the crash. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of the vehicles, skid marks, and gouge marks.
