Michael Garcia, 58, Killed in Highway 101 Car Crash
DATE OF COLLISION: Monday, October 1st
October 12, 2018 – A 58-year-old man died days after being involved in a traffic collision on Highway 101, according to a local news source.
The fatality was identified as Michael D. Garcia.
Primary reports indicated Garcia was a passenger in a pickup that was struck by another vehicle driven by 24-year-old Dinara Arevalo.
On October 1, Monday, Arevalo was being pursued by law enforcement. The woman reportedly lost control of her car and crashed into a pickup.
The impact forced the pickup to veer off the roadway, and roll over the nearby railroad tracks. Both Garcia and the pickup driver apparently had to be extricated, before being taken to hospitals for treatment.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Friday that Garcia succumbed to his injuries sustained in the accident.
Meanwhile, the identity of the driver of the pickup, and their condition at this time remained unknown.
Dinara Arevalo Arrested After Fatal Car Crash on Highway 101
Officials mentioned Arevalo is currently charged with evading an officer causing injury with a special allegation for causing great bodily injury. Police continue to evaluate at this time whether additional charges will be filed as a result of Garcia’s death.
