Michael Gilbert Figueroa Oceanside Boulevard and College Boulevard

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2026) — Michael Gilbert Figueroa, 40, was killed Friday evening after he was struck by a vehicle while seated on a center median at a busy Oceanside intersection, authorities said.

The fatal incident occurred on January 2, 2026, at approximately 7:18 p.m. at the intersection of Oceanside Boulevard and College Boulevard, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Investigators said Figueroa was sitting on the center median when a vehicle struck him.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after a 9-1-1 call, but Figueroa was pronounced dead at the location at approximately 7:34 p.m. He was not transported to a hospital.

The San Diego County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of death was ruled an accident, and no contributing medical conditions were identified.

Police have not released details about the driver involved or whether any citations or arrests were made. The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.

Figueroa’s next of kin have been notified. Anyone with information related to the incident is urged to contact the Oceanside Police Department.
