Michael Gurrola, 27, Killed in Riverside Crash on Southbound Interstate 215
RIVERSIDE, CA (April 1, 2021) – A car and big rig crash killed Michael Gurrola along the Interstate 215 in Riverside.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 27-year-old Riverside man as the victim of the wreck which occurred on Thursday.
The incident happened when Michael Gurrola was driving a Honda Civic in the slow lane of the southbound Interstate 215 in Riverside.
Car and Big Rig Collision Near Columbia Avenue
CHP said for an unknown reason, Michael Gurrola collided with the back of the tractor-trailer. According to the article published by My News LA, officers reported the accident at about 1 a.m.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene, just south of Columbia Avenue. They found Michael Gurrola severely injured as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then rushed him to the Riverside Community Hospital where he died. Meanwhile, officials are still determining whether the truck stopped on the freeway prior to impact.
CHP forced half of the southbound Interstate 215 to shut down for a time following the crash. The cause of the fatal collision is still under investigation.
