Bicyclist Michael Hatch, 49, Killed in Bus Crash at Bunker Hill and Great America
SANTA CLARA (October 27, 2018) – A bicyclist hit and killed by a bus near Bunker Hill Lane and Great America Parkway Thursday has been identified as Michael Hatch, according to The Mercury News.
The Santa Clara County coroner’s office said the 49-year-old Morgan Hill man was a victim of a tragic accident which occurred just before 5:30 p.m.
As per the article, police said Hatch was riding a bicycle south on Great America Parkway when he was struck by a private commuter bus. He was traveling in the designated bike lane and had a green light at the time.

The bus was reportedly making a right turn onto Great America from Bunker Hill Lane when it hit the cyclist. The bus failed to yield the right of way to the bicyclist.
Police affirmed that Hatch succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the bus, which had passengers when the crash happened, was owned by El Paseo Limousine, and was operating as a free commuter line for the ACE train. The incident remains under investigation.
