Commuter Bus Hits Bicyclist in Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2018) – A 49-year-old man identified as Michael Hatch riding a bicycle was struck and killed Thursday night by a commuter bus near Bunker Hill Lane and Great America Parkway.
The crash took place about 5:20 p.m. on October 25.
The Morgan Hill man was riding his bicycle in the bike lane when suddenly the bus struck him as it made a turn at the intersection.
Sadly, the man died at the scene of the collision.
Police are heading up an investigation into the crash to determine liability.
Santa Clara Crash Investigation
Police are reviewing the evidence and any witness statements to determine fault. It’s unknown at this time what factors led to the crash. The investigation will also consist of looking at measurements of evidence left by the vehicles such as point of impact, final resting positions of the vehicles, skid marks, and gouge marks.
