Bicyclist Killed in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Crash Chester Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (July 23, 2020) – A bicyclist identified as Michael Andre Hunley died in a hit-and-run collision Sunday night on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield.
The fatal accident occurred at around 9:28 p.m. on July 19th in the 1200 block of Chester Avenue, according to reports by Kern Golden Empire and 23 ABC News.
A driver in a vehicle traveling southbound on Chester Avenue struck the man riding a bicycle and then fled the scene.
Paramedics responded and found the rider left lying in the roadway and in critical condition.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The suspect who fled the scene was driving a car described as an older model sedan with major front-end damage.
Investigators believe that speed played a role in the collision and they are hoping the public will help them locate the driver.
