Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash Identified
WINNETKA, Calif. (May 18, 2022) – Michael Kigozi, 42, of North Hills, was identified as the pedestrian killed in Winnetka by an alleged hit-and-run driver.
The deadly crash occurred about 9:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 14th in the 7600 block of North Winnetka Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the victim as Michael Kigozi.
Police later arrested the suspect identified as Gevorg George Gevorgyan, 30. Authorities say the motorist was allegedly driving north on Winnetka Avenue at the same time, a male pedestrian was walking in the roadway.
The driver reportedly struck the man on Winnetka Avenue. Police said he briefly stopped the vehicle after the crash, but left the scene. The suspect returned to the same location later the same night. Police subsequently arrested him.
The Los Angeles Police Department is heading up the investigation into the crime.
