Michael Lopez, 22, Killed in Taft Crash at Highway 119 and Airport Road
TAFT, CA (June 6, 2022) – Michael Lopez was killed after a motorcycle crash at Highway 119 and Airport Road in Taft.
The coroner’s office identified the 22-year-old Bakersfield man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place on Saturday.
The incident happened when Michael Edward Lopez was riding a motorcycle in the area of Highway 119 and Airport Road in Taft.
Motorcycle and Truck Collide
The California Highway Patrol said for an unknown reason, he collided with a semi-truck. Michael Lopez sustained serious injuries as a result 0f the crash.
He soon died at the scene. The Kern Golden Empire and The Bakersfield Californian wrote that the accident occurred on June 4 at about 1:15 a.m.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the driver of the truck ended up hurt or if they stopped following the collision. The cause of the Taft crash is still under investigation.
Officers forced the area of Airport Road and Highway 119 to shut down for a time after the incident.
