Bicyclist Killed in Long Beach Car Accident ID’d as Michael McIntyre, 38
LONG BEACH, Calif. (Sept. 26, 2018) – Michael McIntyre, 38, of Long Beach, died days after a collision on Sept. 10th at Orange Avenue and 52nd Street, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.
The bicyclist was struck by a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze about 1:30 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Paramedics transported the injured man to a hospital for treatment of critical injuries to his head and body, police said.
The driver of the vehicle was described as a 21-year-old female resident of Long Beach. She had been driving southbound on Orange Avenue and had a green light as she approached 52nd Street, police said.
The bicyclist was heading southbound on Orange Avenue in the northbound lanes against traffic as he approached 52nd Street. The bicyclist reportedly turned left against a red traffic light and was struck by the Chevrolet Cruze entering the intersection.

The collision remains under investigation by police who are seeking to confirm the driver’s account of what happened.
