Michael Sanchez, 52, Killed in Oceanside DUI Crash on Douglas Drive
OCEANSIDE, CA (March 23, 2023) – Michael Sanchez was killed after a DUI crash on Douglas Drive in Oceanside.
Family members identified the 52-year-old Oceanside man as the victim of the fatal wreck which took place last week on Tuesday.
The incident happened when Michael Sanchez was riding a bicycle north on Douglas Drive in the city of Oceanside. He was in the bike lane at the time.
Bicyclist Hit by Car
Police said a car traveling in the area approached and then struck the bicyclist. The ABC 10 News wrote that the vehicle dragged the rider for about 50 yards in the roadway.
The collision occurred on March 14 shortly after 5 p.m. Police confirmed that Michael Sanchez died at the scene of the bicycle accident.
Loved ones set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of the victim. Meanwhile, officers determined that the male driver of the car was under the influence of heroin when he hit the cyclist.
Police soon arrested the motorist on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The Oceanside DUI crash is still under investigation.
