Michael Tacchella, 27, ID’d as Suspect in Sonoma DUI Crash on Highway 116

SONOMA, CA (June 9, 2021) – Authorities detained Michael Tacchella after a DUI crash on Highway 116 in Sonoma.

The California Highway Patrol determined that the 27-year-old Fremont man was under the influence when the wreck occurred on Monday.

The incident happened on June 7 when Michael Tacchella was driving a Honda Accord on the wrong side of Highway 116 in Sonoma. He then slammed into a Chevy Silverado, east of Arnold Drive.

The male driver of the pickup truck sustained severe injuries as a result of the collision. Paramedics rushed the 36-year-old Rohnert Park man to the Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa for treatment.

The Press Democrat wrote the accident took place at around 4:15 p.m. CHP added that Michael Tacchella ended up with major injuries following the crash.

Meanwhile, a CHP helicopter transported him to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. Officers soon arrested and booked him into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of felony DUI.

The name of the wounded victim and his condition at this time were not disclosed. CHP forced a portion of Highway 116 to shut down after the collision.

The Sonoma DUI crash is still under investigation.
