Michele Lightcap, 44, Killed in Salinas Hit-and-Run Accident
SALINAS (August 15, 2017) – A pedestrian killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident along West Blanco Road on May 29 has been identified as 44-year-old Michele Lightcap, according to The Californian.
As per the article, Lightcap was walking on the south sidewalk when she was struck by a red 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup near Padre Drive. She was rushed to Natividad Medical Center where she died.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. A few hours after the fatal collision, the suspect car had been reported stolen. California Highway Patrol officers later found the vehicle abandoned on Highway 101 near Madeira Avenue.
Hit-and-Run Suspect Julia Ryan, 25, Arrested
After a two and a half months of searching, police arrested Tuesday and identified the suspect as 25-year-old Julia Ryan who is an acquaintance of the truck owner. She was reportedly in possession of heroin and methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia at the time of her arrest.
Police affirmed that the Salinas woman also had several outstanding warrants including a warrant for failing to appear on an arrest for driving under the influence of drugs.
She was booked into the Monterey County Jail for Vehicular Manslaughter, Vehicular Manslaughter and fleeing the scene, hit-and-run, causing death, failure to report hit and run with death, driving on a suspended license, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamines, possession of paraphernalia, and multiple outstanding arrest warrants.
