Michelle Johnson, 38, Killed in Modesto DUI Crash at Woodland and Yellowstone
MODESTO, CA (March 14, 2022) – Michelle Johnson was killed after a DUI crash at Woodland Avenue and Yellowstone Avenue in Modesto.
The coroner’s office identified the 38-year-old Modesto woman as the victim in the fatal collision which took place on Sunday.
The incident happened when Michelle Johnson was riding a bicycle north on Yellowstone Avenue, approaching Woodland Avenue, in Modesto.
Police said a 2017 Acura ILX then struck her in the intersection. The Modesto Bee and ABC 10 News wrote that the accident occurred on March 13 at about 5:45 p.m.
Bicyclist Hit by Car
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene, three blocks west of Carpenter Road. They found the bicyclist down on the ground as a result of the incident.
Michelle Johnson sustained serious injuries due to the impact of the crash. Medical personnel rushed the cyclist to a hospital where she later died.
Meanwhile, police determined that the driver of the Acura was under the influence when she hit the cyclist. They soon arrested the woman on suspicion of DUI.
Officers forced the area of Woodland and Yellowstone avenues to shut down for a time following the collision. The Modesto DUI crash is still under investigation.
