Michelle Urzua, 20, Severely Injured in San Mateo Crash on El Camino Real
SAN MATEO, CA (November 29, 2022) – A DUI crash left Michelle Urzua severely injured on El Camino Real in San Mateo.
Family members set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the medical bills of the 20-year-old woman involved in the wreck.
The incident happened when Michelle Urzua and a friend were driving down El Camino Real in San Mateo. At the same time, a vehicle was traveling at about 80 mph in the area.
Police said the speeding driver then slammed into the victim car. The Mercury News and Patch wrote that the collision took place last week on Monday, November 21, at around 1 a.m.
Speeding Drunk Driver Hits Another Car
Both Michelle Urzua and her friend ended up hurt as a result of the crash. She sustained serious injuries including broken ribs, hips, pelvis and leg and a fractured sternum.
The other patient survived the accident with non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics rushed the two wounded parties to a trauma center for treatment.
The reports confirmed that the wreck left Michelle Urzua in the ICU. Meanwhile, police determined that the other motorist was under the influence of alcohol when he hit the victims.
Officers soon arrested the 18-year-old man on felony charges. The cause of the San Mateo crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the police at (650) 552-7700
