Mother, Daughter Hit by Vehicle at Highway 1 and River Street
Santa Cruz, CA (August 4, 2022) – Midori Montalvo, a 23-year-old woman, died following a pedestrian accident that occurred in the area of Highway 1 and River Street.
The East Bay Times and KSBW News reported Montalvo and her 4-year-old daughter crossed the intersection Thursday morning. For reasons still unclear, an oncoming vehicle struck both the mother and child.
Our sources indicated the horrible crash took place around 12:45 a.m.
Deadly Pedestrian Accident in Santa Cruz
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the pedestrian lying in the roadway. Responding paramedics rendered aid to both victims. Despite life-saving measures, the mother sadly succumbed to her injuries and died at the hospital. The Santa Cruz Police Department later identified the deceased as Midori Montalvo, of Santa Cruz.
Meanwhile, officials mentioned the child suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident. The name of the juvenile, and their condition at this time have not been revealed thus far.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole morning. They continue to investigate the precise cause of the unfortunate event that happened at Highway 1 and River Street in Santa Cruz.
