Elderly Bicyclist Injured in Midway City Hit-and-Run Crash on Newland Street
MIDWAY CITY, CA (September 9, 2021) – A bicyclist was injured after a hit-and-run crash on Newland Street in Midway City.
The California Highway Patrol dispatch team said the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the incident at about 12:13 p.m.
According to CHP, a vehicle struck an elderly man who was riding a bicycle at the time. For an unknown reason, the driver hit him at 14692 Newland Street in Midway City.
Bicycle Rider Hit by Vehicle
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene between Madison and Roosevelt avenues. They found the rider left wounded as a result of the collision.
Medical personnel then provided treatment to the patient for the unspecified injuries he sustained in the wreck. Officials did not disclose the name of the wounded victim and his condition at this time.
Meanwhile, CHP affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid to the cyclist and fled the area. Officers forced a stretch of Newland Street to close following the crash.
The cause of the Midway City hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
