Passenger Hurt, Driver Killed in Head-On Collision Near Highway 43
Buttonwillow, CA (March 25, 2022) – Miguel Angel Lopez, a 29-year-old Arvin resident, suffered injuries following a suspected DUI car crash that occurred on Stockdale Highway.
On March 18, Lopez was reportedly riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Bernabe Lopez Garcia. The Taft Midway Driller News reported the 2004 Chevrolet was heading west on Stockdale Highway. When the vehicle approached the area near Highway 43, the Chevrolet veered into the opposite side and ended up crashing head-on into a Kenworth tractor.
The catastrophic incident took place at approximately 2 a.m.
When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the driver and passenger with injuries in the Chevrolet. Responding paramedics performed life-saving measures to Bernabe Lopez Garcia but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

Authorities added Miguel Angel Lopez sustained major injuries as a result of the incident. An ambulance transported the patient to Kern Medical for further treatment and evaluation.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Kenworth, 24-year-old Tomas Morales Torres, appeared unharmed after the collision.
