Miguel Velazquez Moped Crash Los Angeles Flower and 3rd Streets

Moped Rider Miguel Velazquez, 30, Seriously Injured in Los Angeles Crash

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 27, 2022) – Moped rider Miguel Velazquez was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash in Los Angeles.

The CBS Los Angeles and ABC 7 News identified the 30-year-old man as the victim of the collision which took place on August 14.

The incident happened when Miguel Velazquez stopped on westbound 3rd Street at Flower Street in downtown Los Angeles. A vehicle was traveling in the same direction at the time.

For an unknown reason, the driver struck him and his blue moped in the intersection. Police said the accident occurred at around 12:35 a.m.

Driver Hits Victim, Flees Scene

Miguel Velazquez sustained major injuries, including two broken wrists and an injured tailbone as a result of the moped crash. Paramedics soon rushed him to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the motorist did not stop to render aid and then fled the area. They described the suspect as a a male Indian or Hispanic in his 40’s,

Officers categorized the car as a royal blue colored Mini Cooper with a panoramic sunroof and possible front-end damage.
