Woman Killed in Hit-and-run Crash; Fremont Driver Arrested
UNION CITY, California (May 23, 2018) —Mike Simpson Tanios, 29, of Fremont has been arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run following a fatal pedestrian accident on Alvardo Niles Road last night, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
The collision took place about 9:04 p.m. A woman who was walking in a crosswalk on Alvarado-Niles Road was allegedly struck by Tanios’ vehicle, but instead of helping her he fled the scene. The woman died of her injuries at the scene of the crash.
The suspect was later located and arrested without incident. He is reportedly cooperating with the police investigation.
Police investigating the collision closed down Alvarado-Niles Road at Mann Avenue until nearly 3 a.m.
